Inter sunk Milan

Four-nil. Or rather nil-four, because that sounds even more impressive. Inter demolished Milan. They toyed with them, then they knocked them out. In the first half they scored three: Thiago Motta, Milito and Maicon. In second half they added just another one through Stankovic. Because that was enough. They floored Milan with consummate authority, taking advantage of an opponent that lacked any real presence or ideas. The reality is that Milan has yet to become a team. They were in disarray, and had no answer to Inter's power and the skills of their world-class players. Some huge performances, with Maicon the pick of the stars. And then Thiago Motta, Eto'o, Milito. And Sneijder. All outstanding, and largely unchallenged. José Mourinho means business. There was no sign of Santon and Muntari. The Portuguese coach immediately introduced the experience of Zanetti and the unpredictability of Sneijder. That's his style - he likes to surprise and excite. They turned out to be good decisions, as was his fixation on getting the Dutchman, who quickly repaid his faith with a great performance. Leonardo, who would never have imagined a thrashing of these proportions, could only repeat the starting line-up from Siena; the obvious selection, and one in keeping with the uninspiring nature of the squad.
