Chelsea: Scolari is sacked and Drogba admits difficult time

Chelsea's Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has admitted he is finding life "difficult" at the club, but has vowed to help his team get back on track.

Drogba had been out of favour under Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was sacked as manager on Monday February the 9th.

Scolari had been under pressure after facing taunts from Chelsea fans after their 0-0 draw at home to Hull.

"It's a little difficult at the moment, but we will find ways to return," Drogba said, before Scolari's sacking.

"You can't have a 10-year career where everything is great. I am in a period like that - a little less good.

"Is this difficult to experience? If I say no, people will say I am not ambitious. If I say yes, people will think I am demoralised when it is really not the case.

"It is not easy but it is not the end of the world. The main thing is that I am in good health physically," Drogba told French newspaper L'Equipe.

The Ivory Coast forward's comments came as he stopped off in France on his way to Turkey, where the Elephants play a friendly international on Wednesday.

Le FC Barcelone a signé sa neuvième victoire consécutive en Championnat d'Espagne, dimanche à Santander (2-1) lors de la 21e journée, grâce à son attaquant argentin Lionel Messi, entré à l'heure de jeu et auteur d'un doublé.

Le Barça conserve 12 points d'avance sur le Real Madrid, qui a de son côté signé un sixième succès d'affilée, samedi à Soria, face à Numancia (2-0).


La Liga 2008-2009 s'annonce néanmoins compliquée, d'autant que le Barça maintient la cadence.

L'équipe de "Pep" Guardiola a pourtant souffert à Santander. Les Barcelonais ont été menés au score après un penalty transformé par Zigic (55e) et réduits à neuf en fin de match (exclusions de Marquez puis de Piqué pour deux cartons jaunes chacun).

Messi a encore une fois été le joueur providentiel du Barça. Le véloce attaquant argentin a inscrit le 5.000e but du club catalan en Liga en offrant la victoire à son équipe.

Derrière le Barça, en dehors du Real et dans l'attente des résultats de Valence (à 18h00 GMT contre Almeria) et du FC Séville (à 20h00 GMT à Gijon), les poursuivants ont une nouvelle fois trébuché.

L'Atletico Madrid, qui n'a toujours pas gagné en 2009, s'est incliné à domicile devant Valladolid (2-1) et Villarreal s'est fait gifler en Galice par un Deportivo La Corogne qui peut sérieusement penser à l'Europe (3-0).
