Afcon 2008: Didier Drogba named in Elephants squad despite injury


Injured striker Didier Drogba has been named in the Ivory Coast's 23-man squad for the African Nations Cup.

Despite his knee injury, the Chelsea striker has been included in a line-up which includes just one local player.

Elephants coach Ulrich Stielike called up goalkeeper Tiasse Kone, who plays for Ivorian champions Africa Sports.

The Ivorians will train in Kuwait from 7 to 18 January where they will play three friendlies against Kuwait and two local clubs.

The Ivory Coast are in Group B in the Nations Cup with Nigeria, Mali and Benin.
